RESETTLEMENT PROGRAMMES
Speak English from day 1 of welcome.
Britwise is the language partner for every UK refugee resettlement programme. Multilingual from week one, trauma-informed by default, and integrated with the safeguarding workflows your programme team already runs.

WHY THIS MATTERS
Language is the rate-limiting step in every integration outcome.
1
Employment delayed by language
73% of resettled refugees cite English as their #1 barrier to UK employment (UNHCR, 2024). Britwise turns the first 12 weeks of waiting-for-an-ESOL-place into 12 weeks of structured private practice.
2
GP, school, housing — invisible friction
Confidence to register at a GP, attend a school admission meeting, or chase a housing case-worker requires English most resettlement learners haven't been given yet. Britwise simulates these conversations so they happen, not avoid them.
3
Civic confidence + safeguarding
Trauma-informed prompts. KCSiE-aligned classifier. Programme leads see safeguarding signals before they escalate. DSL routing on a per-programme basis.
4
Outcome reporting your funder asks for
Per-programme tagging means your ARAP cohort doesn't get mixed with your UKRS or Homes for Ukraine data. CSV exports already mapped to DLUHC and Home Office integration KPIs.
WHAT YOU GET
Programme-specific features your case team will use this week.
First-language onboarding
A resident arriving on a Homes for Ukraine visa is greeted in Ukrainian, on day 1, by a Britwise that knows their L1. No English required to begin. We support 32 L1s.
Trauma-informed prompts
Prompts are reviewed by a UK trauma-informed pedagogy advisor. We avoid the war/conflict/family-loss triggers off-the-shelf American apps blunder into.
Programme tagging
Tag every learner with their programme code at redemption. Filter outcomes by ARAP, ACRS, UKRS, Homes for Ukraine, or Community Sponsorship in two clicks.
Community Sponsorship co-brand
Lambeth Sponsorship Group running 12 households? You get a Britwise mini-tenant with your sponsor-group name on the welcome screen. £0 setup.
Household-level access
Refugees arrive as households. Britwise codes can be issued per household (one parent, one teen, one preteen) — shared device household-aware.
Adult ESOL Core Curriculum
Mapped to Entry 1 → Level 2. Means your programme outcomes are reportable against the same standard ESOL contracts use.
WHY BRITWISE, NOT DUOLINGO
Off-the-shelf consumer language apps will not work for resettlement. Here's why.
They assume motivated learners with a hobby budget
A Homes for Ukraine arrival is not learning English for fun. They're learning it under stress, in a shared household, possibly with limited literacy in their L1. We design for that reality.
They sell to consumers, not programmes
They have no concept of cohort tagging, programme reporting, safeguarding, or DPIA-defensible procurement. Try filing a Cabinet Office Service Standard return on a Duolingo Plus subscription.
They process data in the United States
Refugee data in US-hosted systems is a Schrems-II problem you do not want to inherit. Britwise data sits in Helsinki (EU), full stop.
Two-week pilot, named programme.
Tell us which programme you lead. We'll come back with a pilot proposal scoped to your cohort size, first-languages, and your funder's reporting cadence. Pilots start at 25 seats.
